Born in Israel 1977.Graduated the Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, in 2005.
Since then he has been working in Tel Aviv as a video artist and a professional visual effects artist.
His unique technique of compositing and animation, allows him to bring his characters into elaborated and uncanny environments, mixing original shot footage with material taken from mainstream pop culture.
With his own novel approach to video and filmmaking, Roiy manages to tip in to the collective memory of his viewers, presenting works that are both bizarre and disturbing, yet familiar and comfortable.
Roiy Nitzan’s video works and short films have been shown in film festivals, biennales and galleries all over Europe, including the Yvon lambert gallery in Paris.
He has also collaborated with many renown artists such as Avishai Cohen, Etgar Keret and the Art Collective Efo Dana.
One of his outstanding achievements was the work on the acclaimed animation feature, Waltz With Bashir - Roiy was the visual effects supervisor for the film.
